Month of January as Tamil Heritage Month in London.
London Assambly has unanimously adepted a resolution to declare the Month of January every year to come as “Tamil Heritage Month” in London. This will be a milestone in our journey towards a National declaration in the United Kingdom.
The motion for the London Assembly to recognise January as Tamil Heritage Month, led by Conservative GLA Member Nick Rogers, has passed unanimously with resounding support from all parties from all corners of London, today 2nd December 2021.
Speeches by Conservative members including Shaun Bailey AM and Keith Prince AM highlighted the great contribution made by the Tamil community in London against a backdrop of persecution in their native Sri Lanka. Speeches in support of the motion were also given by Labour, Lib Dem, Green Party members across the city.
